We love a flagship smartphone around here, but there’s still a lot to love about mid-range devices which have come a long, long way in recent years. The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a prime example. We’ve unboxed and unpacked the new A Series range, and here’s what we love.
Today we’re focussing on the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G as part of the 2021 A Series line-up.
Top specs, low price
There’s a tonne of bang for buck to be had in the mid-ranged price Galaxy A52 5G. Samsung really knows how to make a cheaper phone feel like a flagship.
Not only do you get a 6.5-inch screen1, the Galaxy A52 5G also packs in a super smooth 90Hz refresh rate to make the experience of using it day to day buttery smooth. And nothing gets in the way of your content, either, thanks to a hole-punch front-facing camera. More on that in a moment.
Everything you do with your phone is designed to be a little more special on the Galaxy A52 5G. Games get access to Game Boost mode for better performance; videos get access to surround sound on your speakers, and your camera nabs Optical Image Stabilisation for shake-free photos and smooth video. And you’ll get 4500mAh of power ready to take you through the day.
You even get some features that flagship devices are missing, including a 3.5mm headphone jack (!!!) and expandable microSD storage support up to 1TB. That means you can bring your favourite wired headphones from yesteryear along for the ride, and a whole lot of the music you’ll play through them!
The build-quality is also top notch. No longer does a mid-range phone have a mid-range feel. With a satin finish on the rear cover, it feels great in the hand. And with squared-off sides, it feels purposeful and premium.
5G all round
5G isn’t a luxury, it’s the future of connectivity meant for everyone. That’s why the Galaxy A52 comes with support for our awesome 5G network right out of the box (on a compatible plan).
And you’ll be using your super-fast network of the future in more places with us too: our network is in more places than anyone else’s!
Check out where 5G is now, and where it’s heading to next with our Mobile Coverage Maps.
A lot of apps give you fun ways to use the hardware on your phone. For the first time in a Galaxy, the filters you love from Snapchat are now built right into the camera app for you to use.
The whopping 32-megapixel front-facing camera features the upgraded Fun Mode that takes our favourite filters direct from Snapchat for use in the native camera app. There are 16 lenses available: seven basic and nine popular and rotating lenses updated regularly.
Not only is this an easy way to get to your favourite effects, it also yields sharper pics. Using the Snapchat app to take your pics doesn’t typically allow you to take high-resolution images. Snapping them directly through the Camera app’s new Fun Mode gives you access to the full resolution of that great front-facing camera.
