She’s the glamourous powerhouse that’s spent the past year juggling five home renovations, three TV shows, and a massive cocktail business, and now Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel is taking us inside her entertainment empire.
With the season return of The Real Housewives of New York City same day as the U.S. and her hilarious new renovations show Bethenny and Fredrik (every episode now streaming), there’s never been a better time to tune into hayu on your Telstra TV.
We caught up with the reality TV star while she was in Australia last week to find out what viewers can expect for 2018:
Tell us about the new season of Real Housewives of New York City – are we in for lots of drama?
There’s really no space between the drama and the comedy – it’s a ‘dramedy’. It’s non-stop, buckle-your-seatbelts from the minute you turn on the television to the finale. I mean it’s gutting for me, but…you guys can enjoy my pain.
How do the housewives of New York compare to our housewives in Sydney and Melbourne?
[The Real Housewives of Sydney and Melbourne can be] extremely dense in arguments… where I think we have a little bit more of an ebb and flow of the harsh talk. Melbourne’s very different to Sydney – Sydney is the most hardcore by far.
How has it been filming your new show Bethenny and Fredrik – what did you learn during the making of the show?
We flipped the place and made hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it was touch and go. I was the keeper of the purse strings; I was controlling the budget. Fredrik was like my wife who just likes to go out and spend. We’re good partners, we could have killed each other, but we laughed like I’ve never laughed in my entire life.
How do you manage juggling multiple TV shows and a business empire?
It took me to the brink this year, but my way of managing so many things and being an utterly involved mother is through order, organisation, delegation, structure. I don’t waste time – I say it like it is… and there’s really no discussion about it.
What are you watching on TV at the moment?
I binge TV – I need to get an assistant for my television watching! I need to dive into Homeland, then jump back into Billions, do a little side-dish of Handmaid’s Tale, wait for The Crown to come back and wait for The Sinner. Most of what I watch is with my daughter – my TV and movie body of knowledge is mostly animated and children’s.
