The low throb of the V8s added to the cacophony on Peel Street this morning, when country met cars for the announcement of Will Davison as the new driver for car number six, the Trading Post Ford Performance Racing Falcon, in the 2011 V8 Supercar Championship. The locals call it “doing a peely”.
It was True Blue at Bluey as Aussie Balladeer, John Williamson, a V8 fan and owner of a Ford ute in 1970, congratulated star driver Davison who roared into town for the announcement of his big gig, and join V8 fans kicking back at the Festival.
A country music fan from way back, and one of the fastest drivers on track, Will signed a Trading Post FPR Racing team shirt going on Trading Post for auction, with the proceeds going to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
Will said he was looking forward to “getting the show on the road”, in a clever double nod to both Michael Stanley and Van Halen fans in the sweltering crowd.
Judging by the huge turnout at Telstra Bluey, there’s a lot of crossover over between country and V8 fans.
