You’ve probably heard before that the ubiquitous Hills Hoist is an Australian invention, and you probably won’t be surprised to hear that cask wine is as well.
But what you may not know is that us Aussies have a long history of innovation that spans generations, and improves the lives of people around the world in both small and big ways.
In fact, without the hard work of Aussies, you might find it hard to hang that picture (we created the electric drill), get over that viral infection (we were the first to use antibiotics in a medical sense), or swim with speed (we made the Speedo… Sorry, world!).
We’re also credited with creating the first full-length feature film, long-wearing contact lenses and dual-flush toilets—just to name a few.
