The Ultimate Context: do you have what it takes?

Technology has changed a lot in recent years, usually with the intention of making life easier. But a recent trip to one of the Telstra Museums reminded me of technology gone by.
It was on this trip that we discovered Les Edwards. Les is not only an enthusiastic and informative volunteer, but also the person who holds the world record for the fastest Morse code ever sent.
But exactly how quick is Morse code? And are our high-tech smartphones really that much quicker? For instance, how would Morse code hold up against the faithful text message?
To find out, we’re putting Morse code to the test in the ultimate battle, which we like to call The Ultimate Context.
Are you a texting aficionado? Do you have what it takes to annihilate Les in a battle of the technologies? We’d love to see you try!
We’re even giving away a Samsung Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit armband to the winner of our Ultimate Context. The winner will also have an opportunity to battle Les head-to-head (or thumb-to-thumb!).
To enter the Ultimate Context competition, tell us in 25 words or less why you think you can win the speed test in texting against Les Edwards in the #UltimateContext. Are you a texting addict? Or do you have exceptionally long texting thumbs? Simply tell us on your personal Twitter or Instagram account or the Telstra Facebook page. Don’t forget to include your full name, hometown and tag it with #UltimateContext.
We’ll select the five people with the most creative entries as finalists, who will then compete in a time trial against each other to find one winner. In addition to receiving the aforementioned prizes, the winner will have the opportunity to battle it out with Les to see if they can text a set message into a mobile device quicker than Les Edwards can type the same message using Morse Code!
See the full terms and conditions including eligibility to enter here. Competition ends July 2 at 11.59pm, so be quick!
