Yes, it’s been a big year and I’m sure I speak for the whole social media team at Telstra when I say I’m looking forward to the week ahead – Christmas Day celebrations, a break from the daily grind, some time with family, new years eve revelry and I’m most definitely looking forward to that refreshed outlook I know I’ll return with in 2012.
I think it’s important to reflect upon the year before bidding it farewell. So I thought I’d take a look at some of the trends, highlights and moments in time of 2011.
We weren’t surprised, and bet you aren’t either, to learn that ‘iphone’ was the top search online of 2011. What a telling sign of the influence technology is increasingly having on our lives – typically the top search term online is taken out by a person or a news event. We love that a technological marvel was the word on everyone’s finger tips in 2011!
It was definitely a year for video tributes and I was particularly touched watching the numerous tributes for technology prophet Steve Jobs, the renowned and glamorous Elizabeth Taylor and the soulful Amy Winehouse.
We experienced our fair share of disasters and moments that stopped the globe in 2011, including the wedding of Kate and Wills, the death of Osama Bin Laden and Gaddafi, the earthquakes in Japan and New Zealand, protests in Cairo, the tragedy in Oslo and the closure of the News of the World publication.
Yes! It’s been a big year…
So to celebrate, the Telstra Exchange team will be taking some time off next week and won’t publish new blogs or respond to comments until we’re back on the 3rd January.
