As global businesses continue to digitise themselves lightning-fast, high-capacity global networks are becoming increasingly important to deliver better end-user experiences and transformative innovation.

For a third consecutive year, Telstra has been awarded the highest product scores for High Capacity Network and Low Latency Network Use Cases in the Gartner Critical Capabilities report for Network Services, Asia Pacific.

With one of the most extensive networks in Asia Pacific, we can meet the capacity demands of companies across a range of business sectors, including media firms, content providers, software companies, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and CDNs (Content Distribution Networks). These firms need ever increasing bandwidth for distributing applications and content to their continuously evolving international user base, at an affordable cost point.

On the low latency side, the demand is more concentrated around the financial services sector, particularly with the constant advances in electronic trading within the capital markets industry. A few years ago, the demand for low latency connectivity came principally from HFT (high frequency trading) firms. We are now seeing a wider need arising from banks, brokers, investment firms, trading venues and associated ecosystems of application and service providers, all of whom require fast, reliable, point-to-point network connectivity between key data centres and trading hubs in order to be competitive in the market. In particular, we see a rise in interest from companies trading FX, where price data is synchronised between the three main centres of London, New York and Tokyo.

We believe that the results of this assessment are a fantastic affirmation of our commitment to providing our enterprise and global wholesale customers with market-leading network services, together with access to the latest innovations such as our Telstra Programmable Network.

We are pleased with this recognition from Gartner for a third year and look forward to continuing our investment to expand our global network.
