After more than six weeks of renovations, our Hobart icon store has finally reopened this week as the most technologically advanced Telstra store in the state, featuring a new interactive and innovative layout.
We’ve been quietly testing our new age thinking and savvy technology behind the scenes for quite some time, and are excited to finally be able to share this world class retail innovation experience with you all.
And if you’re a gadget lover like me, you’ll be right in your element in any of our five new interactive zones:
Connected Home Interactive zone
With the rate technology is changing, it can be hard to know where to start. Now you can see firsthand how a kitchen, living room, bedroom and home office can be set up and connected to one network making it easier to access and share the information and entertainment you want across multiple internet enabled devices.
Touch table zone
This is one of my favourites – an interactive table surface that allows you to compare services and products such as smartphones via an intuitive touch interface.
In fact, Smartphones have never been so popular – the number of Australians owning an internet-connected mobile phone has jumped from 46 per cent in 2011 to 60 per cent in recent months*, and with a number of new models and players entering the market, you will be spoilt for choice this Christmas.
NBN educational zone
Kingston, Sorell and Midway Point locals are also among the first in Australia to have access to the super-fast National Broadband Network (NBN), and the new store features an area dedicated to Telstra’s services on the NBN.
Our staff are also fully trained to talk to customers about Telstra services on the NBN and how we can help make the process of connecting to the NBN as easy as possible.

Samsung in-store experience zone
This zone showcases a range of Samsung products and shows how your digital life can be integrated into your home life.
