We’re proud to lend our name to the NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership

By Jeremy Nicholas September 23, 2020

To us, equality, diversity and inclusion aren’t just words: we strive to live these values every day. One way we can demonstrate that commitment is through our support of women’s sport in Australia. Today we became the naming rights partner of the NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership (NRLW) for the next three seasons.

The agreement will see us align our title partnership of both the men’s and women’s elite competitions until 2022, and further extend our twenty-year association with the NRL.

We’re are a long-time partner of rugby league in Australia, and the growth of NRLW gives fans more action to watch. Importantly, it’s also a beacon for young women to participate in sport for health, fitness and friendship, and also more opportunities in a professional sporting career.

Australia has a long and proud history of producing world class, female, athletes. Our NRLW players are every bit as incredible. They are dedicated, strong and passionate. They are hardworking, they are skilful and some of the most inspiring athletes you will encounter.

With the NRLW now in its third season, it’s our hope that by committing our support to women’s rugby league that the competition continues its expansion to include new teams and cities and showcases the best rugby league players in the world in our backyard, and on our screens.

In a year that has proved so challenging for everybody, we are so grateful to have had sport return to our screens and were buoyed by the NRL and Australian Rugby League Commission’s commitment to the importance of women’s rugby league.

The full 2020 NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership draw will be released on Sunday 27th September, following the completion of Round 20 on the NRL Telstra Premiership.

The four NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership teams – Brisbane Broncos, Sydney Roosters, St George Illawarra Dragons and New Zealand Warriors – will play each other once, with the top two ranked sides at the completion of Round 3 to progress to the Grand Final on October 25.

Telstra customers can watch every match of the NRLW via the NRL official app and Telstra Live Pass.

We’re so excited to stream matches as the Telstra NRLW Premiership to fans for the first time this year using technology designed and built by our own people and streamed on Australia’s best mobile network. I hope you enjoy the action as much as I will.

The agreement furthers our commitment to provide greater opportunities, exposure and investment into the programs currently in place for women and young girls wishing to pursue a rugby league career.

We believe strongly in contributing to the participation, growth and professionalism of women’s sport and women’s’ rugby league in Australia.

We are very excited to contribute to the growth and professionalism of women’s rugby league in Australia. As a long-time partner of the NRL, we support every effort to make the game as inclusive and diverse as possible, and to provide a platform for aspiring female athletes to realise their dream.

Young players can’t be what they can’t see, so it was vital for our partnership that we were able to bring the Women’s State of Origin and NRLW premiership to fans, streamed live, fast and data-free with the Telstra Live Pass and official NRL app.

The second NRLW season will see defending Premiers Brisbane face off against St. George-Illawarra Dragons, Sydney Roosters, and the NZ Warriors, during the finals series of the NRL in September, but fans keen to see some of the action can enjoy the Women’s State of Origin fixture on 21 June from North Sydney Oval.
