Our biggest ever year of sports streaming is off and running, and for the first time we have matches from the AFL, NRL, Netball and Hyundai A-League playing over one chock-a-block week of sporting goodness.

Until now, the AFL, NRL, Netball and Hyundai A-League seasons hadn’t overlapped, but with the commencement of the Suncorp Super Netball season this week, we finally have all four up and running (and jumping and kicking and passing!) thanks to Telstra Live Pass.

Beginning with Wednesday’s match between Richmond and Melbourne in the AFL, and ending with the final match of the A-League home-and-away season between Perth and Wellington on Sunday the 28th, Telstra will for the first time stream all four sports via the Live Pass and official apps. That’s a total of 26 matches, with total plays across our four official apps expected to top 5 million views.

Telstra TV customers who download the official Netball Live app have even more reason to celebrate, with two live and exclusive matches streamed each week from the Suncorp Super Netball series.

We all lead busy lives, so sometimes getting out to a game or gaining control of the family TV remote control can be pretty difficult, that’s why we’re committed to bringing you the very best of Australian sport live, fast, and data-free wherever you may be.

A wide brown land deserves a wide choice in sports, so if Australia’s premier men’s and women’s domestic football and netball on your mobile isn’t enough, then Kayo has you covered. Just tell Kayo your favourite teams and you’ll get a never-ending stream of live and on-demand action on any device in your house, and of course on Telstra TV. There’s over 50 sports including AFL, NRL, Cricket, Football, Rugby Union, Motorsports, Basketball, Tennis and much more live or on-demand.

Exclusive to Telstra, you can even get up close and personal with your favourite sports with 2 months of Kayo Basic for just $5.* If you’re an existing Telstra customer, you can add it to your Telstra bill.

Throughout this year, every match of the AFL Premiership, Hyundai A-League, Suncorp Super Netball Series and NRL Telstra Premiership (excluding Grand Final) plus a number of other selected tournaments and matches will be streamed on the sporting apps over our network for those with a Live Pass subscription, giving you access to an unprecedented number of premier men’s and women’s international and domestic sport.

Last year, we streamed 670 matches to fans hungry to keep on top of the action; this year, we plan on bringing fans around 850 matches. You’re welcome – just don’t forget to charge your phone!

Since 2012, we’ve used world-class technology to go beyond just sponsorship, streaming our first ever match over Australia’s largest mobile network to become a genuine technology partner of the AFL, NRL, Netball Australia, and Football Federation Australia – and we streamed over 700 million minutes of sport during the 2018 season.

Eligible Telstra customers can use the official mobile apps of the AFL, NRL, Netball Australia and FFA to stream their favourite matches live, fast and data-free, unlocking $329 in value from their service. Non-Telstra customers can still get in on the action, with a number of subscriptions beginning at $2.99 a week, and other options available for monthly or annual passes.

We know that the thrill of cheering on from the stands can’t be replicated, too; that’s why with Telstra Thanks, we give customers access to discounted tickets to all these sports, from as little as $8 for juniors and $20 for adults, with other offers available from time to time like 2 for 1 tickets.

If you’re looking for something to do with friends or family this week, we have 26 reasons why you should choose to watch Australia’s best athletes, with thanks to Australia’s best network. If that doesn’t fill up time over the Easter break, then we don’t know what will.

* Monthly subscription, $25/mth after offer period.

A-League kicks off for 2019: watch more football live, fast and data-free

We’re adding even more talent to our Telstra Live Pass roster with the launch of the 2019 A-League season on our My Football Live App. The first game between Adelaide United and Sydney FC will kick-start the A-League’s 14th season, and we think it’s the most exciting one yet.

For the first time, we’re bringing the A-League and other fixtures like select FFA Cup, Westfield W-League and Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas games to Telstra Live Pass in the 2018/19 season. Whether you’re more into a high-profile clash between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory, or you’re a grassroots supporter of the W-League, you can catch the action live, fast and data-free on Live Pass.

Kane Washington, our GM of Sport – Product and Consumer Experience, is understandably excited for the season kick-off – and for the extra value it brings our mobile customers. “We’re thrilled to finally see the Hyundai A-League make its debut on our network this weekend, and expect the addition of the world game to really appeal to our customers.”

Following the announcement of the deal between Football Federation Australia and Telstra in May, the My Football Live App has already streamed select domestic and international fixtures in the lead up the A-League 2019 round one fixture between Adelaide United at home against defending minor premiers Sydney FC.

We’ve secured the live mobile rights for Hyundai A-League games until 2023 – and that means a year-round spectacle from Australia’s leading football codes on our network, no matter what you’re interested in.

Washington says that 2.3 million viewers already stream sport through our various NRL, AFL and Netball Live Passes, and this new streaming deal is going to help that number rise, saying “we expect that number to grow further with the addition of the My Football Live App.”

A record-breaking weekend of streaming saw us deliver video to over 1.2 million of our customers using our sports apps, and even on a regular weekend over 40 million minutes of sports streaming shows that Aussies are keen to watch their favourite codes wherever they are. Those numbers are only set to rise, too – this year alone we’ve seen a 58 per cent jump in the overall numbers of customers streaming games.

We’re making it easier than ever for our mobile network to handle this load, too, using innovative technology like LTE-Broadcast on our AFL Live Official app for better quality video and audio, even in high network traffic areas. This also frees up capacity and bandwidth on the network for other customers, as well as for future growth and new services.

The live, fast and data free streaming of the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League season will be available to all Telstra mobile customers. Non-Telstra customers can purchase a $99.99 annual Live Pass, $16.99 monthly Live Pass, $4.99 weekly Live Pass.

Benefits for Telstra customers don’t end at access to streaming on the go, with the inclusion of $20 Telstra Thanks® tickets to select A-League matches, as well as a number of Socceroos and Matlidas home fixtures from as little as $15, so fans can experience the thrill of football live.

You can now download the My Football Live App from the App Store and Google Play Store.

FFA’s Head of Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League, Greg O’Rourke, said that extensive work had gone into the development of the 11th edition of the Westfield W-League Season draw, with the number one strategic priority being to make all games accessible to Westfield W-League fans.

“It is our desire to make the Westfield W-League the football league of choice for the best female footballers in the world and football fans,” said O’Rourke.

“To help achieve this, we set ourselves the goal of ensuring that all matches for the upcoming Westfield W-League season will be either broadcast or streamed in Australia, as well as introducing prime time stand-alone fixtures to showcase the players and clubs.

“Working closely with all our stakeholders, I am proud to say that we achieved this with all 57 matches available live for fans via broadcast or stream locally.

“We have scheduled 13 stand-alone matches on Thursday nights which will be played in prime time, and a stand-alone Friday night Melbourne Derby.

“With the FIFA Women’s World Cup being held in France next year, all players, Australian and international, will be looking to impress in the lead up to the tournament and our expectations are that the on-field quality will continue to deliver thrilling moments for the fans.”

We offer our customers live streaming of every AFL and AFLW game, as well as NRL and Netball season games, on the leading mobile network in the country – and football is joining the party.

We recently announced a five year mobile rights and sponsorship agreement with the Football Federation Australia (FFA) which sees us secure the live mobile rights for all Hyundai A-League games until 2023.

Adding football to our sports portfolio gives our customers a summer offering to complement our existing AFL, AFLW, NRL and Netball Live apps. We are now providing a year-round live mobile sports offering across premier male and female competitions.

We are the home of live Australian sport on-the-go, and on our brilliant network we are committed to making games available live, fast and data-free to as many sports fans and Telstra customers as possible.

Last year we saw unprecedented demand by sports-mad fans live streaming their favourite sporting games with the audience subscribing to Telstra’s sporting apps increasing to over 1.5 million.

And we are seeing strong continued growth of live streaming in 2018. We are shaping the way Australians are consuming sport, and we know our customers now expect always-on ease of access, and deeper engagement with the game through their mobile devices.

The new My Football Live App will include live streaming and full match replays of all Hyundai A-League games which will be made available as a live, fast and data-free inclusion for Telstra mobile customers. In addition to Hyundai A-League games, the app will offer customers and Live Pass holders select FFA Cup, Westfield W-League, Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas games, including Caltex Socceroos home friendlies and early round Asian Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

Our Sports Products Team is working with the FFA to design and build the My Football Live App and will launch this with regularly updated Caltex Socceroos editorial content and fixture information, in time for the Caltex Socceroos journey in June. The App will be free to download, with live matches being unlocked via the Telstra Live Pass from the start of the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League season.

This live, fast and data free inclusion will be available to all Telstra mobile customers. Non-Telstra customers can purchase a $99.99 annual Live Pass, $16.99 monthly Live Pass, $4.99 weekly Live Pass.

You can now download the My Football Live App from the App Store and Google Play Store.
