Foxtel is now broadcasting the summer cricket season in 4K, with all men’s international matches and selected KFC Big Bash League matches showing on a new dedicated 4K channel. It’s the first year of a six-year agreement between Foxtel and Cricket Australia, and fans are the ones that benefit.
To mark the momentous occasion, as well as to celebrate Diwali – the multi-day Hindu festival of lights that celebrates the victory of good over evil and light over darkness – we welcomed Australian cricketing greats and FOX CRICKET commentators Allan Border and Ian Healy into our Parramatta store to meet our customers and share the spirit.
The legends were in town to mark Diwali with some avid cricket fans, giving out signed miniature FOX SPORTS cricket bats and cricket balls to customers, media and our own store staff. We also caught up with Allan and Ian to ask them their thoughts on the upcoming season which they’ll be commentating on.
According to the duo, you should be keeping a clear watch out for Shaun Marsh, Virat Kholi and Usman Khawaja this cricket season. Whichever match you tune in to, though, you won’t be disappointed – not only is Australia’s bowling solid, but the line-up of upcoming matches proves to make for a spectacle worthy of 4K Ultra High Definition.
4K offers four times the resolution of Full HD, which means you’ll be able to see more detail and a clearer, crisper picture when you tune in. After the debut broadcast of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Supercars race in 4K, cricket is the star of Foxtel’s new 4K channel.
You’ll be able to watch this summer’s cricket in 4K on Foxtel from Telstra using the new iQ4 set-top box, as long as you have a compatible 4K TV and are subscribed to a Sport and HD packages.
If you don’t have a 4K TV, you can still watch FOX CRICKET with a host of commentary, analysis and opinion, with the Foxtel from Telstra Sports package. The Entertainment + Sport + HD package, which includes both FOX CRICKET and the Foxtel 4K channels, starts from only $39 a month over 12 months, for new Foxtel from Telstra customers.
(Note that the minimum cost $568.03 includes $100 standard installation, $0 iQ box and a 1c per channel per year charge also applies for Chelsea TV, MUTV and LFCTV. After the first 12 months, you’ll roll over onto a $58/month, month-to-month subscription.)
With a summer of sports and entertainment, we are making it really easy for customers to add Foxtel from Telstra to their plans. Find out how we’re giving customers more choice to add on the things they love.
