My son Adam has been a nipper at Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club since he was 6 years old. Now in his 9th year at the club, Adam has passed his Surf Rescue Certificate and proudly helps to patrol the waters at Dee Why Beach.
When I told Adam he had won the opportunity to become a Sydney Telstra 500 Grid Kid and lead the V8 drivers out onto the track, he was thrilled. Below is a brief response from Adam – and a massive thank you to Telstra for the opportunity!
Ross Hockley – Proud Father
I couldn’t believe it when Dad told me the awesome news that our club had won the chance to see the V8’s at Homebush! I have watched the races at Eastern Creek and Wakefield Park, but this will be awesome to see the battle between Ford and Holden live and to be a Sydney Telstra 500 Grid Kid! I’m looking forward to taking a walk in the pits among the drivers and all the action over the three days!
Thanks again to Telstra for giving me and the other Grid Kids from Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club the opportunity to be at the Sydney Telstra 500!
Adam Hockley – Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club Representative for Junior Lifesaver of the Year.
