For six months, retired Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston headed up the massive co-ordinated search for the missing Malaysian Airlines, MH370 and lead the recovery effort in the Ukraine for MH17. Two major and very tragic airline disasters in one year that are yet to be completely solved.

On stage at Vantage 2015 – Sir Angus’s presentation took the audience on an emotional journey as he recounted the massive international efforts required to co-ordinate communications the ongoing search, the obstacles faced in the Ukraine and the technological learnings and airline safety advancements as result.

We caught up with Sir Angus for an exclusive chat afterwards and asked him about pilotless planes, the role of social media in the Ukraine recovery, what new technology is keeping us safe in the air and does human emotion have a role in data analysis.
