5 step selfie school with Brittney Lee Saunders
In my time as a beauty vlogger I’ve learned a thing or two about the art of taking a good selfie. Today I want to share a few of my techniques with you – a little makeup, a little lighting, and a little help from my new phone, the Google Pixel 2
1 Create the look
Think of what look you’re going for and then if you want to glam up, get cracking. I tend to go for the full face and lashes, but the trick here is comfort. If au naturale is your thing, I say do it.
2 Get lit – add in something about phone camera
Not all of us have access to professional lighting. Luckily good old natural sunlight works just as well. Position yourself facing a source of soft daylight like a large window, then try and position your body to eliminate shadows.
3 Find your angle
Hold up your phone and find your head angle. I like to go for the classic three-quarter turn, but you’ll know your best side when you see it.
4 Shoot, shoot, shoot
When it comes to taking selfies, more is more. Just go for it, try as many different expressions as you can to find your best shot. My only caution here would be to avoid too much duck face, but that’s just me.
I like to use Portrait Mode to create beautiful, soft focus backgrounds in your selfies. Also, activating Burst Mode is a good way to shoot a bunch of selfies without dislocating your thumb.
5 Pick a winner
Now, probably the trickiest part. Sort through your six hundred selfies to find “The One”. Post it to Insta, and let the likes roll in, baby.
Happy snapping, everyone.
