When I say Gingerbread, Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich and Kit Kat, you’re bound to get hungry and Google’s mobile operating systems might not be the first thing that spring to your mind.
But today, I’m pleased to tell you that the highly anticipated, 4G-compatible Nexus 5 smartphone, running the latest Google operating system – Android™ 4.4, KitKat® – is on its way to Telstra from Tuesday 26 November, and available for online pre-order now.
Customers have been waiting eagerly for this phone (which is the world’s first phone running Android 4.4 Kit Kat) and after extensive testing of the device and operating system, I’m sure customers are going to jump at it.
It’s not only the first phone on the KitKat platform, but it’s also the first 4G-compatible Nexus phone, which is great timing for Telstra customers following last week’s announcement that 4G speeds are now available across an area four times greater than that of any competitor 4G network.
That means customers using the Nexus 5 with Telstra will have access to superfast 4G speeds in more places than ever before.
I’ve been using the phone for the past week and have noticed the Android 4.4 Kit Kat really does deliver a simple, smooth and speedy experience.
Some of my favourite features of the Nexus 5 are:
- The 8MP camera comes with image stabilisation technology to minimise blur
- Google Caller ID looks for matches from businesses with a local listing on Google Maps and people in your Google Apps domain, even if the number calling you isn’t saved in your phone
- The contact dialler system automatically suggests frequent contacts
- The large 5” full HD screen offers a sharp viewing experience for photos, websites and emails
