The Google Pixel 5 is here, and there’s more to love about the Pixel experience than ever, with improved cameras, a bigger screen and a smarter design with power and security built-in.

As soon as you clap your eyes on it, you notice the larger 6–inch screen (151 mm display), with a design that pushes it closer to the edge than ever thanks to a hole-punch 8-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera. That POLED screen will dole out your favourite games, videos, and more at a brilliant 1080×2340 resolution with 432 pixels per inch.

The camera has always been where the Pixel models have shone through, and this year’s upgrades are worth writing home about. The Pixel 5 features two rear-facing cameras: a Dual Pixel wide-angle camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and a 77-degree field-of-view, backed up by a 16-megapixel Ultrawide camera with an awesome 118-degree field-of-view.

As usual, the cameras go hand-in-glove with Google’s incredible computational photography smarts to make your images sing. Night Sight is back for unreal photos when the Sun goes down and the stars come out and, now with Night Sight in Portrait mode, you can capture beautifully blurred backgrounds even in extremely low light. HDR+ has been improved to ensure that colour, lighting and more are all adjusted automatically to bring out the best in bright shots, and lens correction means that any lens distortion created by wide-angled cameras is fixed automatically.

You get other nifty new auto-awesome features like Portrait Relighting for applying filters after you’ve taken the snap, and Cinematic Pan on your videos for a cinematic look on your videos.

Going for the shot is also safer than ever with Pixel 5 thanks to a new IP68[1] dust and water resistance rating that helps keeps your phone safe from unexpected accidents. And speaking of accident safety: the Pixel 5 also has what’s called Car Crash Detection. Should things take a turn out on the road, Google Pixel 5 can automatically call emergency services when you have Car Crash Detection turned on.

The Pixel 5 is also a great device for keeping in touch during 2020, with Google Duo coming pre-installed. And thanks to our amazing 5G network[2], we’re also supporting HD Streaming functionality on the Pixel 5 which allows you to share your screen with your friends, so you can watch the same video or cheer on sports together while being safely distanced.

You can use the best features of the Pixel 5 with Australia’s best network. Together with Pixel 5 and 5G you can stream in a flash, as soon as you hit play, your favourite TV programmes and movies can be ready for you to watch in ultra-clear HD. 5G is rolling out in selected areas on selected plans, make sure you check out our coverage maps to see where it’s available.[3]

You also get an unreal all-day battery life from the new Pixel 5 with a whopping 4080mAh cell to keep you talking, texting, browsing, watching and playing for longer. The Pixel 5 also includes Wireless Charging[4] and Reverse Wireless Charging, so you can not only keep your gear juiced, but help your mates out on the go![5]

And of course, your stuff is kept safe from intruders and ne’er-do-wells with the awesome Titan M security chip built-in for 24×7 security for sensitive photos and data.
