Will Shrapnel, founder of HeliMods, and his team are flying high after winning the 2018 Telstra Queensland Business of the Year, and also picking up the Medium & Making Waves Award last night – a win that will help propel this already successful business even further.

HeliMods deploys technology to support helicopter service providers perform critical missions such as emergency medical, search and rescue, and disaster relief.

It was an appreciation of, and a thirst to understand, the technical complexity and mission versatility of helicopters, that led Will Shrapnel to found HeliMods in 2002.

Sixteen years on, Will celebrated this achievement with his team:

“It’s just incredible, to be a regional business, a tech company in the regions, and to be recognised at a significant awards ceremony like this, that’s just massive, that means so much to us.”

The Telstra Business Awards Judges were impressed by HeliMods’ world-class facilities, and its alignment in strategy, operating model and investment in engineering excellence. HeliMods’ mission is to advance the capability of rotary-wing operations worldwide.

The team thrives on solving complex challenges and is highly experienced in providing complete end-to-end solutions to suit individual requirements. Their approach combines practical applications of advanced technology with client collaboration to create industry-leading outcomes for the end-user.

HeliMods is not the only stand-out story from the 2018 Telstra Queensland Business Awards. At the event held at Brisbane’s W Hotel last night, I was delighted to celebrate among many of Australia’s top businesses.
