The new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are the most helpful smartphones that Google has ever made, but you can make your new phone help you even more with some useful extras. We’ve gathered some accessories that keep your phone a little safer, and make it a little smarter in a few different ways throughout your day. These will launch alongside the Pixel 3 phones on 1 November and will be available from Telstra stores and online.
1 Google Home Mini
The magic of the Google Pixel 3 comes into your life through the Google Assistant, a digital assistant that can recognise your voice, and will understand you and speaks with an Aussie accent. You can ask it to run different tasks on your phone, to search Google for an answer to a question, or for many other tasks – including around the house. If you’re not near your phone, you can use the Google Home Mini to talk to the Google Assistant to play music, guide you through a recipe, or to cast videos and other apps to a Google Cast-enabled TV.
2 Google Pixel 3 Fabric Case
If you’ve got a Pixel 3 already, you’re probably admiring its two-tone glass back and polished sides – we think it’s the best-looking phone that Google has ever made! To that end, you’ll want to keep your new Pixel as safe as possible to cut down on everyday wear and tear. A case is the perfect way to do that, and the Pixel 3 Fabric Case from Google is gorgeous as well as well designed. This fabric case is perfectly fitted to your new phone, and the fine knit finish is definitely going to be a talking point amongst your friends.
3 Google Pixel Stand
Since the Google Pixel 3 now includes wireless charging, why not invest in a wireless charging stand to make it even easier to top up your battery? More than just charging, though, the Google Pixel Stand will enable new features on your Pixel 3 – it’s a smart wireless charger. The Pixel Stand stands your new phone up like the name suggests, and it can work as a digital photo frame for your Google Photos collection, or will work as a smart alarm clock that gently wakes you up with screen light just before the alarm tone sounds. With its powerful features and Google Assistant smarts, the Pixel Stand essentially turns your Pixel 3 into a Google Home speaker when it’s charging.
4 Panzer Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector
In our humble opinion, a screen protector is essentially a no-brainer if you’re buying a new phone. A tempered glass protector is stronger, too, than the plastic screen covers that you might find at your local mobile phone kiosk. Installing a screen protector will give you another line of safety against everyday scuffs and scratches, and will also act as a sacrificial defence if you happen to drop your phone with the screen facing down. Pair a screen protector with a high quality case for extra coverage for both the front and back of your new phone. Panzer Glass’s edge-to-edge screen protectors have carefully rounded and polished designs that match the Pixel 3’s designs, too, so they won’t look out of place.
5 Tech21 Evo Check Case
Some of us use our phones a lot – we take them outdoors on bushwalks and to the beach, as well as through every second of our day-to-day lives at home and at work. Keeping your phone free of wear and tear is a challenge more than ever when you’re on the go, and Tech21 has a long history of creating smartphone cases that stand up to that challenge. The Evo Check is thin and light but contains a high-performing impact material that Tech21 says protects against drops of up to 3.6 metres. The pattern on the back adds a nice styling touch, too!
