Telstra Smart Home is about to make your home a whole lot smarter and your life that little bit easier writes John Chambers.

Available online and in select stores from today, Telstra Smart Home lets you set your home up so you can feel like you’re at home, even when you’re not there.

Connecting compatible smart devices like light globes, motion sensors and cameras to Telstra Smart Home means they can talk to each other and work together to make things around the house run a little smoother.

Whether it’s helping you keep up to speed with your busy life or keeping an eye on your loved ones and pets when you’re out and about, the way you set up your Telstra Smart Home is totally in your control.

With motion sensors, cameras, lightbulbs, a thermostat, smart power plugs and a smart door lock all talking to each other through the Smart Home platform, it’s easy to customise Telstra Smart Home to you and your family’s lifestyle.

All you need is home broadband, a reliable in-home Wi-Fi set up and an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet to get started.

From today, you can sign up to Telstra Smart Home for just $25 per month for 24 months (minimum cost $600) which includes access to the service and your choice of one of two Smart Home starter kits:

  • Watch and Monitor’ Starter Kit gives you peace of mind by allowing you to keep an eye on things when you’re away from home. The kit comes with two door or window motion sensors, and an indoor HD Wi-Fi Camera that can be set up to record video and take photos, or viewed live from the Telstra Smart Home App.
  • Automation and Energy’ Starter Kit comes with two smart power plugs, two door or window sensors and a motion sensor, helping you automate lamps or other appliances and control your use of energy.

Both starter kits also include a Telstra Smart Home Hub – which is the heart of your Smart Home, connecting all of your devices to one another.

If you want to make your home even smarter, you can choose from our range of additional certified devices, including lightbulbs, a smart thermostat, the Lockwood smart lock, indoor and outdoor cameras, motion sensors, door and window sensors and smart power plugs.

And you can expect more devices to be added to Telstra Smart Home early next year.
