I’m Michael Lewis, and I am Geek…

Its been a long haul, a lot of soul searching, and I have come to the conclusion that I can no longer attempt to hide from the truth.

I am a Geek!. What exactly is a geek? Well several definitions came up when I clicked on “Look Up” in Microsoft Word. The one I liked best was “someone who is a proud or enthusiastic user of computers or other technology, sometimes to an excessive degree”. Yes – that’s me.

Why am I telling you this? Because I need (your) help!

There’s actually a serious reason for it.

I have decided to use some of my annual leave to do what any card-carrying Geek would do – I am off to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early January. For those of you who don’t know, CES is the largest Consumer Electronics Show in the world. Over 20,000 industry folk attend each year. And I am going to be part of it! The organisers have accredited me as an official blogger – so I hope to bring you some interesting items from there.

That’s where you come in.

CES covers Audio, Digital Imaging, Emerging Technology, Gaming, High-Performance Audio, Home Networking/ Systems, Home Theatre / Video, In-Vehicle Technology, and Wireless.

Please let me know what you would like to hear about. Add a comment below and I will take the list with me.

As it is getting towards the end of the year, and my mail boxes (both the electronic and real life ones) are being filled daily with catalogues and offers for all manner of gadgets.

I hope my family are reading this – just might be able to drop enough subtle hints about some new toys I need. (Yes I know “need” is subjective, but if I don’t believe it, who will?).

Top of the list – the perfect kitchen accessory.

ADE Germany have just announced (but not yet made available), the Rihanna Kitchen Scale featuring a built-in iPod dock.  How ever could anyone survive in the kitchen without this? This little beauty will only set you back approximately $US150.

Next on my list is the Playable Guitar T-Shirt. ThinkGeek designed this shirt. Using one of the two magnetic pics, you can strum chords across your chest. Move over RockBand! Priced around $US29.95  this is sure to be a winner. Take a look at it in action on YouTube (Search for Electronic Rock Guitar Shirt from ThinkGeek)

Just in time for summer: Treasure Seeker’s Shoes. That’s right – thongs with a metal detector that attaches to your leg. It can either beep or vibrate when you walk over something metal. Comes in small, medium or large. They cost just under 40 English Pounds (Plus the cost of a 9V battery – Not Included).  Obviously well priced as the website showed all three sizes currently out of stock.

Tell me what you would love to receive from the world of the unexplained technology (or what I call the “why on earth did someone make that?”)

Thanks for reading.  I look forward to your comments.
