In this generation of texts, emails and social media, sometimes a call is not the answer.
And occasionally there will be a friend who just doesn’t get it – and for them it’s not just that a call is not the answer, but you’re forever destined to not answer their call.
But fear not, my friends, as iOS 7 has brought those of us with iPhone’s the answer!
Now you can block any number on your iPhone using a few simple steps, avoiding that awkward call from that ex you just can’t shake.
How to block any number on your iPhone with iOS 7
Step 1: Find the number you wish to block
Depending on how the person last contacted you, you can find their number one of two ways:
- If they have recently called you, open your call log. Navigate to ‘Recents’ in your phone app and search for the number you are looking to block. You may need to scroll down a bit, depending on how long ago they called. Select the information icon (the little ‘i’) next to their name.
- If they have texted you before, open your text history with them. Select ‘Contact’ then ‘information’ (the little ‘i’ again).
Step 2: Block the number
When in the information window, swipe down to the end of the screen. Select ‘Block this Caller’. This will mean the person cannot call, text or contact you through the phone. You won’t even be notified when they call!
Alternatively, you can also add previously saved contacts into your blocked numbers by navigating to Settings > Phone > Blocked then selecting ‘Add New…’
So go forth and block! But remember; with great power comes great responsibility, so use it wisely.
