My kids aren’t old enough yet, but like most Aussie parents, setting my children up with a mobile is something I’m going to have to explore soon.
I know I’ll have to consider the type of phone my kids start off with; shock proof and waterproof phone perhaps? Then there’s the question of how to keep costs in check and finding an affordable package.
On the topic of affordability, we’ve been doing a bit of thinking about how we make it cost effective to add new services to a family mobile account.
Customers with a Go Mobile plan can take up our recently introduced $40 Share SIM Plan. Basically it lets you connect up to 5 additional mobile phones to your Go mobile plan and gives you unlimited voice and SMS to standard Australian numbers within Australia on those additional services. Additionally our complete range of smartphones are available to be added to this plan on a 24 month repayment.
Our new Go Mobile plans come with data sharing enabled by default so that if you have a bunch of services on the one account you can pool data and share it among all devices to get full use out of every megabyte.

Now customers that add a new $40 Share SIM plan to their Go Mobile service will also receive a $100 welcome credit! The $100 welcome credit will be automatically applied to your service when you add a $40 SIM to an eligible service and will be applied to your second bill.
Also, for a limited time , we have a range of premium Smartphones available with no monthly handset repayments when you stay connected for 24 months (min cost $1,800 based on $35 Go Mobile Casual Plan, including:
Here’s an example:
Say you’re running a two-parent household, both parents could take up one of our new $70 Go Mobile Casual plans, and connect two additional mobiles for their kids by adding two new $40 Share SIM with unlimited voice and SMS to standard Australian numbers within Australia.
This allows the family to share 12 GB of data in Australia and enjoy cost certainty (monthly min cost $220) – effectively giving everyone 3GB of data to use in Australia. Plus you’ll receive a $200 welcome credit!
Connect your team as well
It’s not just families that can benefit from this great new $100 welcome credit offer. New small business customers can also make the most of this offer by adding up to 5 new $40 Team Plans to their account.
Like the Share SIM plan, small business customers can also enjoy unlimited voice & SMS to standard Australian numbers within Australia and share data across the team with eligible services.
Things you need to know
If you cancel early the remaining handset payments will be higher as you’ll no longer receive a credit to offset your handset cost. Welcome credit: If you cancel your SIM plan before 12 months or you move to an ineligible plan, you must pay a portion of the credit back to us based on the number of months left remaining in your minimum term. Go Mobile Plans: Some usage is excluded, such as calls/text/MMS to premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), 1234, 12455, 12456 and satellite numbers, content charges and use overseas. Unused allowances expire monthly.
