Complying with the Privacy Act

A journalist has recently published an article detailing a request he made of Telstra for data and personal information relating to the use of our services under the Australian privacy regime.
We take the privacy of our customers very seriously. The Privacy Act sets out the rules for protecting the privacy of our customers and we comply with it.
We make the personal information we hold on our customers, such as their name, address and phone number, available to them through our bills and our My Account service. Our bills and My Account also contains service related information, such as who customers have called and for how long.
We don’t believe the Privacy Act requires us to extract all network data and provide it upon request to customers.
