It’s that time of year again, when some of Bollywood’s brightest stars come to Melbourne thanks to the Indian Film Festival.

For the second year in a row, we’re proud to be presenting the Telstra Bollywood Dance Competition. I think it’s safe to say that no other film industry does a musical dance number quite like Bollywood and we’re glad to give people the chance to connect with Indian culture and Bollywood stars.

Last year we had around 5,000 people pack Federation Square to see their friends, loved ones and even complete strangers dance and compete for exciting prizes.

The crowd, all with phones up

This year we’re also expecting a big turnout, particularly because of the celebrity judging panel which includes India’s Got Talent judge Malaika Arora Khan who starred in one of the most iconic Bollywood dance numbers of all time and director-producer team for Bollywood’s highest grossing film ever Dhoom 3, Vijay Achara and Avtar Panesar.

Each year the competition is fierce with people flying in to Melbourne from all over Australia to battle it out in the solo and group categories.

The crowd will determine the People’s choice winner via Telstra’s SMS voting service for their chance to win access to the our exclusive VIP area where they can enjoy heaters, refreshments, chairs close to the stage as well as other Telstra goodies.

Dancing to win

In the VIP area, crowd winners will also have the chance to mingle with the celebrity judges as well as other Bollywood stars.

The Telstra Bollywood Dance Competition is a free event held at Federation Square from 3pm on Sunday May 4 so make sure you head down!

The Indian Film Festival will be in Melbourne from May 1 until May 11. To view the full program schedule of films and events please visit the IFFM website.
