It’s that time of the year again – some of Bollywood’s brightest stars are on their way to Melbourne, thanks to the Indian Film Festival.

For the seventh year in a row, we’re proud to be presenting the Telstra Bollywood Dance Competition. We think it’s safe to say that no other film industry does a musical dance number quite like Bollywood, and we’re glad to be a part of the fun and give people the chance to connect with Indian culture and Bollywood stars.

Previous years have seen over 5000 people flock to Federation Square to see their friends, loved ones and even complete strangers dance and compete for exciting prizes.

Our Telstra Bollywood Dance Competition entrants are given the opportunity to be recognized and celebrated for their talent, by performing not only for our passionate and esteemed judges but also for a crowd of thousands!

Each year the competition is fierce with people flying into Melbourne from all over Australia to battle it out in the solo and group categories.

This year’s celebrity judging panel will include Bollywood Celebrity Malaika Arora, 2019 Miss Universe Australia winner Priya Serrao, and Indian Actress Gayathrie Shankar. You can expect to see a number of other surprise guests in attendance also.

The Telstra Bollywood Dance Competition is a free event held at Federation Square from 12pm on Saturday August 10 – so make sure you head down! This year is the 10th anniversary of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, so it’s a special occasion across the entire week of 8 – 17 August.

The crowd will determine the People’s Choice winner via SMS Voting and Facebook Live Poll, on the IFFM Facebook Page and the winners will receive a $1000 cheque as a token of appreciation.

In the VIP area, crowd winners will also have the chance to mingle with the celebrity judges as well as other Bollywood stars.

The Indian Film Festival will be in Melbourne from August 8 until August 17. To view the full program schedule of films and events please visit the IFFM website.
