BigPond Sports Action Packs

It’s the same old story. Boy meets girl. Boy and girl go on date. Boy says he needs to go to bathroom. Boy instead nips into the bar next door to find out the footy score. Girl wonders why boy is taking so long. Girl eventually locates boy in pub shouting at TV. Boy protests he’d only just stuck his nose in to check score. Girl picks up glass of liquid and proceeds to throw it all over boy: “You promised me a night without football!”
I’m not quite the boy in that story, but when I am out and about I do have an insatiable need to know what the footy score is to the point when walking past bars I’ll stick my head in the door to get an update. Some would call this an unhealthy obsession with sport – I call it dedication.
Unfortunately however, between the strenuous demands of a packed sports viewing calendar and trying to actually have a life, ultimately it’s the sports watching that tends to fall by the wayside.
Ideally we’d have an eighth day inserted into the week, (“Sportsday” is my working title, suggestions welcome, and it’d be located between Sunday and Monday), so that sports nuts everywhere can actually devote their full attention to the serious business of being a true supporter.
However, until that glorious day is born, I’ve been introduced a new way to feed my sporting appetite – AFL and NRL Action Packs from Telstra.
In a nutshell these Action Packs mean you never have to miss a game again. If you’re like me, it’s about having access to live AFL and NRL match scores and stats so you’re always going to know what’s going on, even if you can’t catch the action live. Nothing like a sneaky look at your mobile to check the score, nobody gets hurt, no drinks get thrown.
But the real kicker is that with video highlights and match replays (available 24 hours after the game) included, you’re no longer wed to your couch to catch replays of the games you missed either.
Just in case you still have time left-over having devoured all those highlights, the Action Packs also have summer sport coverage, including cricket, football (the true round ball code), tennis and golf, plus BigPond Scores and Sport TV 24×7 for all other sports. Suffice to say if you can actually get through all that content, you’ll be giving my heavy sports laden diet a run for its money.
If you’re averse to trying to watch sports on a mobile, then it seems Telstra’s got a deal for you… the new Samsung Galaxy Tab on a $69 Data Cap+ Bundle. Featuring a big, seven inch screen, not only will you get 7GB of data to use in Australia, you’ll also receive a full season subscription to the BigPond® Footy Action Pack. Check out all the Samsung Footy Pack deals here.
So what about you – to what lengths have you gone to not miss your team in action?
