Be Fit Food, a health food delivery business that grew 1500% overnight after gaining support on Shark Tank, can add another notch to the belt after taking out the 2018 Telstra Victorian Business Awards last night in Melbourne.
Driven by high quality, fresh ingredients as the key to a healthy, balanced diet, Geoffrey Draper, a bariatric surgeon, and Kate Save, a dietitian, set out to create a product that offered their weight loss clients an alternative, nutritional solution to the popular protein shakes and health bars currently on the market.
The business provides quick and healthy, chilled or frozen meals for time-poor people and the meals have no added sugar, low salt content and plenty of vegetables.
“We are here to disrupt the diet industry, the supplement industry and the pharmaceutical industry. We believe that food is medicine and we are here to make sure that real food, whole food, is the way of the future,” said co-founder Kate Save.
The judges were impressed by Be Fit Food’s financially astute strategy for expansion, from start-up to serious competitor of major brands in the home-delivered meals sector.
On top of the high-quality food they provide, Geoffrey and Kate have been able to successfully build a collaborative, flexible and supportive corporate culture, which we were impressed with.
Last night, other top performing businesses were recognised as category winners of the 2018 Telstra Victorian Business Awards:
