Network Operations Manager -
Telstra Global Operation Centre
Paul Harrison is Telstra’s National Emergency Response Manager, located at our Global Operation Centre (GOC) in Melbourne. The GOC is the 24x7 monitoring hub of Telstra’s national and international networks. Paul’s career with Telstra began some 31 years ago in 1987 as an apprentice technician for the then Telecom, in his home town of Ballarat. After that first year, Paul moved to Melbourne and worked maintenance in a number of exchanges in Melbourne’s east. He swapped the exchange life for a field technician role in the installation and maintenance of phone systems for both domestic and business premises. In 1991 Paul joined the Croydon test centre and worked there in several customer service support capacities until moving to the Global Operation Centre in 2001. Paul has held numerous key roles within the GOC over this time, which now sees him performing the highly challenging role of emergency management for Telstra. Things that motivate Paul outside of work include, motorcycles and his love of exploring the remote parts of country in his 4WD with his family.
