Principal, Smart Cities and Transport Growth -
As Business Development Lead for Smart Transport in the Telstra Enterprise Strategic Business Development and Growth team, Jamie works to identify opportunities for Telstra within Australia’s Transport Industry customer base. Key to success in this role is working closely with Australia’s Road Operators, Freight and Logistics companies, Public Transport Providers, and others to understand strategic industry trends and disruptors such as improved Road Safety, Connected and Automated (including Driverless) Vehicles, Mobility as a Service, reducing Traffic Congestion and implementing Road User charging to offset diminishing government revenue from shrinking carbon fuel excise.
Jamie’s purpose is to engage customers on joint innovation projects to validate future Telstra Product roadmap options which deliver secure, reliable and powerful technology to enable better road transport outcomes including reduced road toll, more efficient use of road network assets and better journeys for the movement of people and goods.
Jamie is currently working closely with the CTO team around Cooperative I.T.S. (C-ITS) and Cellular V2X (4G & 5G) technologies which enable low-latency safety-critical and other messages to be wirelessly transmitted and received among vehicles, road-side infrastructure and other vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists. Telstra is ideally positioned to design, build and deliver Australia’s national C-ITS ecosystem solution 'stack'
Jamie was formerly CEO of Transmax P/L – an Intelligent Transportation Systems software solutions company (owned by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads) and he holds an M.B.A. from the University of Central Queensland as well as a Bachelor of Arts in History and Pure Mathematics from the University of Queensland.
