Make Mindfulness work for you in the workplace

These days stress and anxiety are so commonplace we seem to accept them as just part of the deal. More often than not there is little or no formal discussion as to what to do when one is experiencing difficult thoughts and emotions in the workplace.
Sadly in our culture here in Australia it is also socially acceptable to simply lean on food, alcohol and other drugs as a way of coping with stress, workload and general anxiety at work. I won’t go into detail here with loads of facts and figures from recent research. It’s all over the news and Internet and I’d be very surprised if you hadn’t experienced it first hand. Let’s move on to something more positive.
Mindfulness can be your antidote to a high pressured workplace or a mind which deals with even common situations in a way which manifests as stress, panic, anxiety or depression. How do I know it works? I practice it everyday for at least 10 minutes, usually 20 minutes and so do millions all over the planet.
In fact people have been using mindfulness practice to better their lives for thousands of years. It’s only really becoming popular now in the west thanks to the work of thousands of practitioners and researchers, and the growing scientific evidence of how mindfulness positively impacts people in many areas of their lives.
