While some of you are ready to jump in and start streaming the latest blockbuster, some of you may need help navigating this new digital frontier, and that’s where we come in.
We’ve developed a series of free workshops, called Masterclass on the NBN, to help communities decipher the digital world. The sessions cover all the basics involved with getting online, from creating an email address and updating your Facebook status, to learning about the different types of NBN and how to connect.
The workshops are hosted by local Telstra digital ambassadors and are tailored specifically for each community to give you the hands on experience and confidence you need to navigate the web.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect to learn about in one of the sessions:
In this session, we will cover off some of the basics you need to know before you can begin your digital journey. We will provide a rundown of key terms, a handy guide on how to use Google and we’ll show you how to search the web and create your own email address. This introduction will give you the confidence to dip into other aspects of the world wide web (WWW), including social media.
Whether you want to share life’s big events among friends or stay updated on current affairs, everything is just a click away using social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
We’ll walk you through how to sign up, connect with friends, update your status, share photos and comment on other people’s messages. It won’t be long before you’ll be able to impress your friends and family with your savvy social skills.
The NBN will bring fast internet to your home so you can enjoy streaming when you’re Skyping, gaming or watching a movie, with great speeds all day, every day.
During the Masterclass on the NBN sessions, our local Telstra ambassador will explain the difference between the four types of NBN connections being rolled out across Australia. They’ll also walk you through the process of finding out when your home is available to be connected, what type of NBN you’ll have access to and what equipment you’ll need installed.
To find out when a Masterclass event is happening near you, keep an eye on your local Telstra store’s Facebook page.
