September is an exciting time of the year for gadget fans with plenty of new products being announced. Sony has unveiled two premium smartphones, The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact, both with powerful features and a size to suit everyone.
We’re happy to confirm that both are headed to Australia’s largest and most reliable mobile network from 14 October and available for pre-order on 7 October.
These smartphones will be the latest to join our 4G 700Mhz smartphone line up. This means Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact owners in 4G 700MHz coverage areas, which is currently being trialed in selected locations*, can enjoy the in-building coverage benefits of the lower-frequency 700Mhz spectrum, with full deployment scheduled from January 2015. If you have one of these phones you’ll enjoy further and faster 4G with Telstra in 700Mhz coverage areas than our existing 4G services.
Also, you’ll be pleased to know that both of these devices are IP65 and IP68 rated. Allow me to get a little techy with you and explain exactly what this means.
The first numeral (6) means the devices have complete protection against the entry of dust. This is the highest possible dust rating on a commercial smartphone. The second numerals relate to water. The (5) means it can withstand low pressure jets of water and the (8) means it can also withstand continuous submersion up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
Basically, it’s not just dust and water resistant, its dust and waterproof because it’s the highest rating you can get on a smartphone today.
The Xperia Z3 and The Xperia Z3 Compact are slim with a stylish rounded frame. The Xperia Z3 display measures in at 5.2” and the compact at 4.6”.
Gamers take note… these are the first phones to come with PS4™ Remote Play. This feature will be available from November as an update to the Play Station app and means you’ll be able to take your PS4 gaming experience around the house when connected to Wi-Fi meaning you can choose where you want to game. When the update is ready you’ll be prompted by the Google Play Store or the Xperia Lounge.
Both devices also feature a number of great entertainment features including high resolution audio, Sony Digital Noise Cancelling headset support – the headsets can be purchased separately– and a bright TRILUMINOS™ display for mobile with intuitive contrast enhancement for better viewing when you’re out and about.
You can enjoy getting creative with these devices with them boasting impressive premium photo and video capturing technology. Both the XperiaZ3 and Z3 Compact are the first smartphones in the world to feature a camera with ISO 12800 sensitivity. This means they will deliver better quality images in low-light, on the move or even underwater. Yes that’s right – even under water!
Also the augmented reality apps are a fun party trick. The camera on both devices is 20.7MP and it can capture 4K video.
