Sydney’s newest harbourside jewel has been officially opened – the new $53 million Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is a masterpiece in its own right.
It’s a stunning venue to check out exciting art, grab a bite in the cafe and for keen gift hunters like me, peruse the interesting museum shop.
The MCA also happens to be the world’s most advanced ‘digital museum’ and Telstra is a very proud technology partner.
Even if you can’t get to Sydney, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia website is the front door to a range of content and experiences, including, very soon, a selection from the previously mentioned gift range.
But the real highlight really is away from the public gallery, it’s the new MCA’s ‘National Centre for Creative Learning’.
A futuristic classroom with all manner of technology will allow artists to connect and interact with students in regional and remote Australia using high speed broadband.
It means young people across the country can experience modern art – and perhaps even consider a future creative career in the fast-growing field of digital multi media.
The MCA is a model for museums and cultural institutions everywhere as we embrace a connected future.
