The result of the Government’s mobile spectrum auction was released today and Telstra was successful in winning the amount of spectrum we wanted. We see this as a great outcome on a number of fronts including for our customers, so I wanted to give you an understanding of what it means and why it’s so important.

Telstra is supporting an initiative to uncover Australia’s next top cyber security minds, the 2013 Cyber Security Challenge. More than 40 teams from universities and TAFEs across the country are battling their wits to demonstrate they have the cyber know how to bag some great prizes, which for the first place winners includes a trip to the Black Hat Security Conference in the US.

As a newbie to the world of TEDxSydney, I can certainly say I was not disappointed and more than anything, in awe at the variety of talent and experience to grace the stage throughout the day.
As a proud sponsor and wifi provider for TEDxSydney, it was great to see our Telstra stand in all its glory, encompassing augmented reality cubes and a bright pink photo booth! Most importantly we had a great time covering the event live on Twitter @Telstra_News and hosting a live blog on the stand with some of the day’s key speakers: David Sinclair, Jess Scully and Dr. Rebecca Huntley.

Australia is one of the lucky first countries to get the latest Samsung smartphone: the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S4.
Being selected as one of Telstra’s Social VIPs, I headed off to Sydney (flight and accommodation covered by Telstra) on April 23 to attend the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch event.
