- Sophie currently works as a process designer for Telstra on an IT project which she doesn’t want to go into because you may fall asleep on your keyboard or you might start daydreaming about more exciting things like grouting, grocery shopping or filing your tax. In her spare time, she has a range of nerdy interests to keep her going: writing, bookclubbing and her latest foray into complete and utter nerdiness – shipspotting. ‘We have just moved to a new building at work and have a great view of the Port of Melbourne. It has unleashed a whole new side of me that I had no idea existed. We are all hooked into the World Ship Society web site. One day I hope to be able to identify every single ship there is on sight.’
When she’s not looking out the window waiting for her ship to come in, she can be found drinking a glass of champagne and walking her two sausage dogs along the beach (not at the same time though, that would be dangerous for everyone involved). Sophie used to write a blog for Telstra’s nowwearetalking web site (Sophie vs Technology) and has previously written opinion pieces for The Courier-Mail in Queensland. She is currently working on a personal writing project. ‘Words are my life and it is my job to put them in the correct order so people can laugh, think, filter ideas or just distract themselves from whatever it was they were supposed to be doing. If I’ve distracted you, then job well done to me. I just hope it’s put a smile on your face.’

Saturday 11 December 2010, 10am Having recently stooped to all-time low of dressing pets up for own personal gain in last blog, have decided to do what any self-respecting and publicity-seeking blogger might do, and write blog about regaining reputation by doing something reeking of constructive achievement. Have decided to make a christmas pudding. Might discover latent skill set other than just googling and scrolling.

Well, I never thought I would have to admit to doing this, but I suppose it’s not the worst thing in the world, really. And I have been threatening to do it for a while….which I suppose makes it kind of expected. And although some of you may have thought, ‘oh no, no , no, Sophie won’t stoop to that kind of low,’ well, I kind of have to confess that I have gone and done it this time: I have bought reindeer antlers for my dogs. Two pairs.
