Phill Sporton is the Executive Director of Service Delivery in Telstra Operations. This area of Telstra is responsible for the installation, connection and repair of Telstra’s products, services and plant. Along with Australia’s largest field workforce (approximately 3,500 field technicians), Phill’s organisation is made up of teams across field-related customer activation and assurance functions, fault recording call centres and a range of back of house and support functions.
Having started with Telstra as an Engineer in 1983, Phill has spent an impressive 26 years at Telstra in range of roles including several positions in senior management.
Phill was recently appointed to the Board of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) and holds a position on the Executive Committee of Open House, a not-for-profit organisation looking after the needs of the under privileged in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne. In his down-time Phill enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny and their three teenage children, as well as indulging in his passion for all things aeronautical.

As we head into a new summer, I think it is always good to reflect on and learn from what has been. It is also good to remember how our people tried their best to keep communities connected across this wide land in summers past.
Around 300 Telstra people – including Executive Director Service Delivery Phill Sporton – gave up their Saturday morning to clean up more than 250 exchanges across the country as part of the new national exchange maintenance program.
