Isobelle is a Legal Counsel in Telstra’s Intellectual Property Group, within the Legal Services team. She spends her days helping manage and administer Telstra’s trade marks, copyright, and patents, as well as looking after miscellaneous domain name matters. She is particularly interested in the intersection between law, technology and the internet, and is happy to be working in an area where she can indulge this interest and call it research. When not working, she enjoys cooking, particularly baking cakes and muffins. She firmly believes that chocolate cake is the answer to everything.

There are plenty of wild and crazy things happening on the internet, but domain names aren’t usually one of them. The domain name system tends to function quietly and efficiently in the background, administered by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). But domain names are about to become centre stage for the first time.
