Donna Ritchie was paralysed as a result of a fall in 1987. At the time of her accident sport was a passion and continued following her injury which left her a paraplegic. Through hard work and determination, Donna proudly Captained the Australian Women's Wheelchair Basketball Team at the 1992 Barcelona Paralympic Games, 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games & Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
Donna was appointed as a Telstra Paralympic Ambassador (the only sponsored Paralympian) from 1997 - 2000 Games. Donna is married to Koen Jansens a former member of the Men's Dutch Wheelchair Basketball Team. They met at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games, Koen participated in the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 Paralympic Games. They have 2 children and now juggle their working and children's sporting commitments!!
Donna's close affiliation with Telstra continues today where she is currently employed as the General Manager, Investment in Telstra Business.
