There are a plethora of metaphors, analogies and euphemisms for the assorted social networks that have arisen around us in the digital age. It's said that LinkedIn is the business meeting. Facebook is the hallway conversation (or raucous Pub brawl, depending on who you've 'friended' I suppose). Twitter is the cocktail party. Yammer and its ilk; the office "water cooler". MySpace.. well, aside from "the kiddies table" and perhaps the "shed where the kids play that awful music", I don't have a whole lot to say about MySpace. And now we have Quora.

Telstra released a summary of the inaugural Telstra Smartphone Index recently, and the results would seem to be pretty clear. Australia loves 'em. I thought I’d ponder some reasons why that might be.

It was the 'weeping philosopher' Heraclitus that first uttered the concept that "Ever-newer waters flow on those who step into the same rivers." most of us are more familiar with Issac Newton's "The only constant is change."
