Sony unveils the Xperia Z2 smartphone and tablet – coming soon to Telstra

Sony-Z2_hero

Mobile world Congress is one of my favourite times of the year. I get to see loads of innovations and get a first look at new mobile devices with many of their major manufacturers announcing their new flagship smartphones and tablets for the year.

Yesterday Sony announced their new Sony Xperia Z2 tablet and smartphone.  I am happy to confirm that both devices will be coming to Telstra very soon.

Like the rest of the Sony Xperia range, the Xperia Z2 devices are waterproof (up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes) and dust resistant, a definite plus when it comes to damage protection.

Both devices are also 4G enabled so Telstra customers can enjoy our super-fast 4G speeds on the go.

The Sony Xperia Z2 tablet

This is the first tablet from Sony that Telstra will sell and I am excited about it. As connected tablets become more popular this device is great choice if you want something small, light and fast.

The 10.1” live COLOUR LED display and two front speakers will give you a great content viewing experience.  It is also one of the slimmest tablets on the market coming in at just 6.4mm and weighing just 439 grams, making it an easy device to take with you.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2.3 GHz Quad-Core processor and 6000mAh lithium polymer battery will also let you browse connect and keep you on the go all day.

The Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone

I am pleased to  be adding the  Xperia Z2 smartphone to our range, building on the success of the Xperia Z and Z1.

The Sony Xperia Z2 has built on the great features of Xperia Z and Z1 with a 5.2” HD screen with live COLOUR LED, making it perfect for viewing your favourite online content.  It is slimmer than its predecessor at just 8.2mm with glass panels that are encased in solid aluminium.

The camera is again a standout with a great 20.7 megapixels and the ability to shoot 4K videos. Customers can also enjoy a range of camera apps including timeshift video and vine.

With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3 GHz and a 3200 mAh battery, this device has both speed and stamina.

Haven’t got my phone yet. Probably no surprise there. Called up Telstra and they said it will be delivered in next business day. Will send email confirmation within 24 hrs.

    • Jamie (Editor) says:

Hi Darren, I’m sorry to hear that! It can depend on what area you are. Let me know if you still don’t get it tomorrow. Thanks, Jamie.

  2. Darren says:

Shops have it in stock but no headphones. If doesn’t deliver tomorrow I was going to cancel my online order and get it in shop

  3. Tabitha says:

I spoke to Telstra for an hour yesterday after I got my email. The first guy (yes, I got disconnected) said there was no record on their end that that email had been sent to me and I’d definitely receive it today. After reconnecting, the guy said he’s really sorry but yes, they are out of stock and he couldn’t tell me when they were ordering more in. Haven’t received my phone yet, and everyone else is getting the same email. It’s funny, I haven’t seen anyone post about receiving their phone.

  4. Darren says:

Just got an email that my order been processed with a Star Track tracking url. For those still waiting you may want to call Telstra to see what’s going on.

  5. Kenan says:

Got got a star track delivery link this afternoon. I think most of us wouldn’t be so upset if 1) Telstra had a release date a few weeks ago. 2) didn’t tell customers that waited patiently (choosing Telstra over other competitors) that they are out of stock. Telstra is lucky to have the best infrastructure, if they didn’t then the competition would be rippin them a new one using good old fashioned customer service.

  6. Anthony says:

I just got my Z2 today. I was little worry when I got a call this morning saying it had not yet been order processed.
But all the some i’m really happy.

Just for everyone information it does come with headphones but the ones telstra are giving are $99.00 headphones.

  9. Nick says:

Any news on when the white version will be released?

    • Gregory Opera says:

Bugger the white version -- I still want a purple version!

*Hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink*

  10. Justine says:

Will Telstra be getting the white version?

  11. ZI says:
