FY13 – a year in the clouds
I would generally describe myself as an optimistic person, but when one of our group’s primary roles is to persistently look at ways to improve our products and services, find the gaps, identify what needs fixing, the occupational hazard is that we tend to see the glass half empty.
The end of one financial year and the beginning of a new one is a good time for reflection. On taking a moment to look back and reflect, we discovered the glass is actually more than a little half full and in actual fact, there are some great things for us to be really proud of.Some of the highlights for me were:
Cloud Services adoption
Customers are liking the services and are buying more- whether it is Infrastructure services (IaaS) or Applications (SaaS). The result is a rapid increase in number of customers buying and using Telstra’s Cloud Services. A great way to close the financial year!
Telstra has gone through a massive culture change in the last few years, at the core of it is becoming a customer focussed organisation (probably a topic for a separate blog…)
Service can always be improved and the new Telstra culture is all about facing up to the challenges, not trying to hide from them, being open and transparent with our customers and doing everything possible to resolve an issue as a matter of priority. This positive change has had a profound impact on our Cloud services teams as our customers’ trust us and rely on us with their most critical IT services- a responsibility we do not take lightly.
It sometimes takes a global stage for us to realise and appreciate the fruits of our hard work. An example of that was last month, when Telstra was presented with the Cloud Provider Partner of the Year award at the Cisco Partner Summit 2013, and the Telecom Cloud Service Provider of the Year award at the 2013 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
To quote one of our executives who returned from another US Partner conference where he attended analyst’s briefings as a customer, he was, once again, ‘amazed by how well Telstra is regarded by the global industry’.
This recognition and great results are only made possible by very dedicated individuals and teams who work hard all year round.
A fantastic way to end the financial year and a lot to look forward to next year!
