Danny Green headlines launch of BigPond Live Events on T-Box trial

danny-blog-header

You know it’s not a typical day at work when you’re stared down by one of Australia’s toughest fighters and told, in no uncertain terms, to sign up to a new product you helped create.

But I wasn’t about to argue with triple world champion boxer Danny Green!

In truth, listening to Danny’s excitement about the BigPond® Live Events on T-Box® trial – which will beam his November 21 IBO Cruiserweight world title fight LIVE to eligible T-Box customers – was a huge thrill.

“It’s about time… it’s fantastic!” Green said during our exclusive chat ahead of today’s launch of the BigPond Live Events on T-Box trial.

“[The fight] is going to be accessible to a lot more people from home.”

Listening to Danny speak, I realised one of the things I enjoy most about my role at Telstra is the opportunity I get to be part of a team that turns ideas into products that may one day be enjoyed by millions of people.

Many of these ideas are born in Telstra’s Chief Technology and Innovation Office, where we experiment to uncover customer appetite for new technologies. We work with small groups of customers to test ideas and together develop new products.

However, it’s not often that we have the chance to trial a new product with a large audience while it’s still in the works.

For the BigPond Live Events on T-Box trial, we’ve worked closely with the team at MAIN EVENT to bring three of the biggest live sports events on the pay-per-view calendar to Telstra’s IPTV line up, for this limited release:

  • WWE Superstars compete in a classic five-on-five match in the WWE Survivor Series LIVE Monday, November 19 at 12pm AEDT
  • Danny Green and Shane Cameron battle it out for the IBO World Cruiserweight Title LIVE Wednesday, November 21 at 7pm AEDT
  • LIVE from Las Vegas boxing greats Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will square off Sunday, December 9 at 1pm AEDT

You can purchase a ticket to any of these events by visiting BigPond Live Events from the applications menu on the T-Box home screen, or by entering channel 918 on your remote.

At Telstra, we strive to build products that you will love and there’s no better way to do that than to put it in your hands and listen to your feedback. Which live events would you most like to see on BigPond Live Events on T-Box?
