Thousands of texts help fight breast cancer

Thanks to everyone who texted on Pink Ribbon Day to tell us that they (heart) pink! Your texts helped raise awareness of breast cancer via our giant billboard and resulted in a $10,000 donation to Cancer Council Australia for breast cancer research, support and education services.
With so many of us affected by breast cancer in some way, it was awesome to see all of Telstra get behind this campaign.
From selling Pink Ribbon Day merchandise throughout our 330+ retail stores, to using our social media channels, retail catalogue, webphones and Telstra.com to raise awareness, to setting up special displays in store windows in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, everyone got behind this campaign!
Internally, more than 100 employees volunteered to sell merchandise in our offices and even more wore pink to work, baked up a storm for morning tea fundraisers and donated to Cancer Council Australia via Matched Payroll Giving.
I for one am really proud of Telstra and our people for getting involved in this campaign. It’s incredible what can happen when we all come together to support a cause… I just hope that we’ve been able to make a difference to someone affected by breast cancer along the way.

I have to ask what did Telstra do for Blue September for Mens cancer month? What is Telstra doing for Movember? Telstra needs to be aware that more Men die in Australia from Prostate cancer than Women die of Breast cancer. Men can get breast cancer but Women can not get Prostate cancer. Men make up 50% of the population. Telstra like a lot of large companies seem to forget this.
Hi Michael. I’m sure loads of men working for Telstra take part, but I’m not sure of our official stance. I will ask and I’ll pass on your feedback.
