Telstra Fibre Experience Centre lands in Tasmania

blog-header

The Telstra Fibre Experience Centre has made its maiden voyage across the Bass Strait to the shores of Tasmania. Arriving in Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania at 6:30am on Tuesday, the Fibre Experience Centre has embarked on a month-long tour of the Apple Isle, to give people a hands-on experience of the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Since we launched in February, our team of fibre experts have taken this custom-built shipping container to Kiama, Armidale, Townsville, Brunswick and Willunga to demonstrate Telstra’s products and services operating live on the NBN and give locals the chance to have their fibre-related questions answered.

Last week many of our shareholders had the chance to see it for themselves at our Annual General Meeting, where we set it up for them to be able to see firsthand one of the innovative ways we are reaching out to customers to talk about our services on the NBN.

Each step along the way, we’ve learnt a little more about what people want to hear about from Telstra and if our experience in other towns is anything to go by, we expect Tasmanians to come out in droves to visit us at the Centre.

With nine sites now NBN-enabled in Tasmania, and the network passing more than 12,600 premises, Tasmania will be the first state or territory in Australia to be fully NBN enabled, and Tasmanians are eager to learn more about the opportunities it brings.

Opening its doors in St Helens today, the Fibre Experience Centre will also visit Sorell, Kingston, George Town, and Deloraine before returning to the mainland at the end of November.

While our team is in Tassie, we’ll be meeting with locals, answering questions, demonstrating our products and services, holding family fun days for our staff and hosting Telstra Connected internet training sessions for novices, with Peter Blasina.

If you’re in Tasmania and want to check out the Telstra Fibre Experience Centre, come on down to these locations on the dates listed – we’re open from 10am to 5pm:

  • St Helens: 25-29 October, at the Central Car Park in Cecilia St
  • Sorell: 1-5 November, next to the Library
  • Kingston:  8-12 November, in the Public Car Park next to the Beach Rd service station
  • George Town: 15-19 November, at the George Town Hall
  • Deloraine:  22-26 November in the Woolworths Car Park, on Emu Bay Rd

Hope to see you there.

So glad the NBN has arrived into Kingston, really looking forward to all the unlimited possibilities!

Unlimited would be if they actually had unlimited options, and charged the going rate in europe or NA for bandiwdth. Welcome to ripoff city, and underpowered telstra low-gig plans.
