New Foxtel on T-Box offering just in time for the festive season

blog-t-box-festive-foxtel-offer-banner

I swear Christmas comes earlier every year.  Just last weekend I spotted Christmas decorations at my local shopping centre, and it’s only October.  Not that I’m complaining though – what’s not to love about the festive season?  I always look forward to taking some time off work, and spending my days with family and friends, eating good food, soaking up the warm weather and of course, catching up on things around the home.

While I do spend a lot of time with the family ‘on the go’ during the holidays, the odd spot of quiet time in front of the telly with your feet up is not to be underestimated.  In fact it’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll need it after a big Christmas lunch, which is why I’m excited about the new Foxtel on T-Box promotion we’re launching today.  New BigPond Cable customers will now be able to have the Foxtel on T-Box ‘Get Started’ package included on selected Bundles for 24 months at no extra cost..

The Foxtel on T-Box ‘Get Started’ package gives you 11 great Foxtel channels to keep the whole family entertained on Australia’s fastest cable broadband network in more places. Telstra’s Cable network is available in selected areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The full list of channels includes Cartoon Network, Channel V, Discovery, Fox Sports News, Fox8, lifestyle You, MTV, National geographic channel, Nickelodeon, Sky News National and TV1 – there’s certainly lots of great options for everyone at home.

What’s more, Foxtel on T-Box comes with no fixed term Foxtel contract and you have the flexibility to add more packages, or change your packages from month to month.

For new customers

Customers who purchase a T-Box and connect to a T-Bundle Connector Everyday, T-Bundle Connector Edge or T-Bundle Connector Pinnacle plan on a new BigPond Cable connection, will now receive Foxtel on T-Box ‘Get Started Package’ for 24 months at no extra charge.  This includes the 11 popular Foxtel channels mentioned above, valued at $468.

For example, on the T-Bundle Connector Everyday plan, you’ll get 200GB of ultrafast Cable broadband, a phone line with unlimited local calls and calls to standard Telstra mobiles (excludes calls to satellite numbers), a T-Box and 11 Foxtel channels on your T-Box included for only $115 a month for 24 months! The minimum cost is $2,808 (plus usage), including a $48 BigPond activation fee.

For existing customers

Existing BigPond customers will be able to test drive the Foxtel on T-Box ‘Get Started’ Package for three months for $0 when they add a T-Box ($360 RRP) to their existing broadband plan or Bundle.

Both offers are available between 24th October 2012 and 20th January 2013, but I’d get in quick to make sure you’re right to go before the holiday festivities begin.

To find out whether you’re eligible for these great offers, visit telstra.com.au/cablebundle or call 1800 303 302.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Will there be a similar offer for Adsl? I’ve nearly convinced my sister to move to bigpond and this might have done it, but I note it’s cable only

So even though the majority of Australians don’t have access to cable Internet (just 10.9% according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, only a portion of which will actually be Telstra customers!), and even though Foxtel now owns Austar (which Telstra is the majority shareholder of, at 50%), this offer is restricted entirely to those select few that actually do have access to cable Internet?

Awesome, great to see that Telstra really put some serious thought into the logic behind this offer and that its going to benefit so many of your valued customers…

Wake me up when there’s something that will actually benefit more than a handful of your customers.

Can the T-Box record Foxtel channels yet?

  4. Telstra Product Specialist says:

Customers connecting to ADSL with a T-Box can a trial the Foxtel on T-Box ‘Get Started’ package for 3 months. This represents a value of $58.50 and includes all ADSL connections, not just those on the Everyday, Edge or Pinnacle Bundles.

Telstra’ Cable internet is available to over 2 million homes and we’d love to see more Australians take advantage of the Cable technology, which offers fast internet speeds to deliver a great entertainment in the home experience

So what you’re saying is that this is (finally!) available to ALL BigPond customers, and not just BigPond cable customers?

Or put another way – I should be able to access Foxtel in my area – which has traditionally been an “Austar” area – as long as I’m a BigPond customer (which I am)?

  5. Re: Can the T-Box record Foxtel channels yet?

At the moment, this functionality is not available. However, your feedback is noted, is something that we’ll explore as we continue to enhance our Foxtel and T-Box offerings.

In the meantime, you may want to check out our Foxtel from Telstra options which records all programs including Foxtel and you can take advantage of our $0 iQHD with Free installation offer. http://www.telstra.com.au/tv/

So by cable you mean a simple landline adsl connection, not similar to foxtel’s cable.
When has adsl ever been ‘super fast’. I have used both Optus and Telstra’s adsl. It’s the reason I have gone to 4G wireless which started out fast, but now with over 500,000 customers connected it has slowed significantly, unless of course you’re using it between 10pm and 5am on a weekday.
4G is for me is simply a stopgap measure till the NBN is rolled out.
Then and only then will we have a more cost effective speed/ volume/ reliability ratio.

What has happened to the horror channel and Movie one and two?

    • Leigh Price (Blog Editor) says:

Hi Kim. FOXTEL recently rebranded their movie channels, so the new channels are reflected on FOXTEL on T-Box. There are no price changes, but some of the channels have changed.

Will Lifestyle Food be available on Foxtel on the T-Box?
