Whereis Celebrity Voices iPhone app – free and available now!

More and more Australians are using their smartphones to search the Internet – that’s no surprise.
But, guess what the most popular online mobile activity Australians use their smartphone for? It’s mapping and navigation.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Think about it. Whether you’re out and about on foot, or about to get in your car, how many times have you searched for directions on your smartphone before you start your journey?
So, with mobile usage booming and mapping the most popular search activity, the team at Whereis have just launched an updated version of our Whereis iPhone App – with a slight difference.
The new Whereis app features the voices of three of Australia’s most iconic celebrities -- Jennifer Hawkins, Dame Edna Everage and Nick Giannopoulos as The Wog Boy.
The app is free to download and provides voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, helping you get to your destination fast and more importantly hands-free! It offers the most extensive coverage of Australia featuring the most up to date map data from Whereis® Maps, Australia’s local mapping expert.
Just imagine -- it could be Jennifer telling you to turn left 200 metres up ahead, Dame Edna explaining why you’re a better driver than her usual chauffeur, or Nick G reminiscing about his old Valliant as he guides you to your next destination.
The Whereis® iPhone app also allows you to pinpoint your current location, search for addresses and businesses in Australia and get directions to take you straight right there.
Telstra customers have unmetered use of the app too – this means there are no data charges when you use the app on the Telstra Next GTM network (excluding any links to third party sites and content).

Available now in the App store, the Whereis iPhone app is free to download at www.whereis.com/iphone.

I would like to say it’s a pity that there are a lot of potential iPhone users of the app who will not be able to take advantage of it, because it has been limited to IOS 4.2 and above. There must be a lot of people out there who have earlier model phones.
Hi Trevor. Thanks for the feedback. You’ve raised an important consideration our Dev team are aware of. You’ll be pleased to hear usage of iOS 4 and below is very small – earlier model phones can also be updated to the latest version. We see the majority of users on these devices having version 4.2 and above. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any quesitons?
This app is fantastic, particularly with the buggy Maps app Apple currently offers everyone on iOS6! Just wanted to confirm that usage is unmetered for Telstra post-paid customers on either 3G or 4G?
Hi Mandy, I’ll ask for you.
