Where can you get 4G coverage with Telstra?
Filed under: 4G, coverage, networks, technology
We’ve been busy expanding our 4G network – you can now receive Telstra 4G coverage in more than double the area of any other 4G network in Australia.
If you’d like to know where you can get 4G, take a look at our map of 4G coverage. It’s currently available in more than 100 metropolitan and regional centres, including all capital cities, covering more than 40% of the population.
Most importantly, all that 4G speed gives your phone the warm and fuzzies. Once you’ve tried the mobile internet speeds of 4G, no other network compares.
Check out the short video we put together about 4G coverage this week:

I was told at 2 shop Telstra shops at 4509 and 4500 there will be upgrade 12 mth time,is going happen?
I’m still not sold on the whole “4G” thing, I mean don’t get me wrong, faster data speeds are all great thing, especially when everything digital is constantly getting bigger in file size…
But even the very best smartphones will run out of juice (battery) after half a day of heavy use, when in reality, a full day (12+ hours) of heavy use should be the bare minimum!
Of course anyone with half a brain will know that this is largely beyond the control of Telstra (or any other service provider for that matter), and even the upgrade to 4G is partially due to the industry as a whole forcing the hand of service providers, but I really wish manufacturers would stop for five minutes and work out how to get 12+ hours of heavy use out of their devices…
As usual it looks like Gundaroo, NSW will either never or be the last to even see anything remotely like 4G coverage just like the NBN Service, not even on the drawing board for us but then again I guess you cant have a safe, clean and healthy life and the mod cons to go with it. One day.
Mate, are you serious? Why the hell would Telstra invest / even bother to offer the best of their services to a town of near 300 people?
I sincerely hope you weren’t serious.
More chest beating by Tel$tra…here’s a thing; how about fixing the next g problems in Tasmania first!
lol
Will the investment in wireless infratructure continue with the advent of the NBN which will remove the burden of fixed telephony from carriers to some extent. With the existing players becoming wholesalers I wait with excitement to see what NBN will mean for all of us. I read with interest the views of Gill Williams, GM Community & Corporate and Gerard Vamadevan, Executive Director – Corporate Partnerships & Strategy on how they view the impact but and trust it will be positive.
4 G. Huh? We were sold mobile broadband 4G in Brisbane….no coverage in Tingalpa a few kilometres from CBD. Currently in Melbourne on holiday….staying in Coburg.Guess what? ….still 3G.
Is this some scam or what?
Hi John, the best thing to do in this case is give us a call on 125 111 (free from a Telstra service). Although it might sound obvious, there’s some tests and configuration checks we can run through on your phone to make sure you’re receiving the best coverage possible. You can also check our coverage maps here just to be certain you’re in an area with 4G coverage.
telstra’s claim on 40% of the population is an outright lie , the true figure would be more like 0.4% and a lot of the areas where they say we can get 4g coverage does not work, honestly 4g is no more than a sales pitch when you will spend over 99% of your time on 3g.
I travel on a daily bases from Woy Woy on the central coast NSW to Penrith by train and get NO 4g coverage at all for the entire trip ( well I did once only and that was for around 30 seconds )
I have driven around to areas where there is supposed to be 4g coverage but still I do not get it.
Oh I forgot to mention that the telstra 4g is NOT true 4G at all , it is the LTE variant and more like 3.5g
4g is no more than a JOKE and offers no benefit in anyway over 3g.
Its not just a telstra thing , other telcos are just as bad but it does amuse me that telstra who claim to be the leaders in telecommunications cant even implement a technology that is not even new or cutting edge.
Other country’s had true 4g when we was just getting 3g.
Why is Australia so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to the internet and telecommunications?
Its also hard to believe that I had a more reliable dial up connection 10 years ago compared to my current ADSL2 connection witch also happens to be Telstra.
Around Katoomba I use 2G it’s uncluttered and no drop outs because not many people use it and its les likely to drain your battery.
