Last night Network Construction trainee, Melanie Michael from our New South Wales region won the SKILLED Group ‘National Trainee of the Year 2012’ award.
During her acceptance speech Melanie graciously acknowledged the opportunities given to her by SKILLED Group, Telstra and in particular Network Construction and the dedication of her coaches during her traineeship.
I was speaking with Malcolm Ronan, Network Construction Director NSW, this morning and he said that Melanie is a great addition to his NSW region and well deserves this recognition.
According to her team manager, Melanie stood out because she has an aptitude to all facets of the business in all technologies, sometimes mentoring other trainees with her skills and knowledge and setting a great example, so that other trainees are following the correct procedures.
When you consider that Melanie competed against 1,100 plus trainees across the SKILLED Group nationally, this is a fantastic achievement.
What Melanie has said about her Telstra-sponsored traineeship experience thus far…
Melanie found the traineeship fulfilling and has given her skills that will help her to reach her goal of becoming a designer.
“I have been able to become a contributor to my team and my supervisor, and this gives me a great feeling of worth.
“This traineeship has given me the opportunity to take the first steps in achieving my ambition,” said Melanie.
