App of the week: Strip Designer – iOS
Filed under: app of the week, Apple, creative, iOS
If you like to story tell like I do and words don’t always cut it, why not take a stab at creating your very own comic using Strip Designer app from Vivid Apps.
Strip Designer is only $2.99, which is a great price for this feature rich app. I was put onto it by my teenage daughter when she installed it on our family iPod Touch, and now I’m going use it with the young people I work with during Pop Up Learning Space events. You can use it to turn your holiday snaps into a photo story, showcase a business product or service or use it for a school project.
It’s an awesome creative tool for digital storytelling and provides the ability to edit in an intuitive way with a simple UI (user interface).
You can add photos directly from your camera, from a photo album or from your Facebook account.
I love all the editing and layer features. To get started, you can check out more than 100 layout templates a photo can be inserted into – some of which can accommodate up to nine different images on the page. You can rotate, scale, smooth and filter your photos, and also pan and zoom. Then the real fun begins with the ability to add comic book styles such as balloons, stickers (like “Boom”, “Splash”, or “Bang”), warped text and – to really customise your text – additional iOS fonts.
There is a built-in photo editor with loads of standard features including transparency. You can even sketch and paint on your images.
There is also support for Dropbox, maps and exporting to PDF, so you can create and print your own comic books. Publish your creative works on Facebook, Flickr, Twitpic, and Twitter.
Now, if that doesn’t convince you to part with $2.99 I don’t know what will.
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
