App of the week: Wake Up and Smell the Vegemite
Filed under: app of the week, App Store, Google Play, Olympic Games, Vegemite
Gee whiz. We were just getting over our Tour de France jet lag and now Europe is doing it to us again. With the all the buzz of the Olympics over the weekend, I thought I’d better get the App of the Week blog out quickly this week.
With London 2012, you can feel your sleeping pattern slowly slipping away as you become hooked on sports that you may have never cared about before, but suddenly seem like the most important thing in the world.
With Kraft’s ‘Wake Up and Smell the Vegemite’ app you can set a wake-up call from an Australian legend to remind you to do your patriotic duty and cheer on the green and gold.

Nothing screams “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie” quite like a vitamin B-filled yeast extract; and nobody screams it better than Dave Hughes or Laurie Lawrence at 4am telling you to “wakey wakey.”
The app takes the hard work of working out when to wake-up with a pre-loaded schedule of every Olympic event. All you have to do is choose what sport you’d like to watch (or a time to wake-up), and they’ll do the rest of the work.
Kraft have also thoughtfully included a news feed and a running medal tally so we can keep track of just how many medals we need to beat our friendly neighbours, New Zealand.
You know you’re creating a pretty special moment when it’s a Vegemite app telling you to get out of bed and cheer on the Aussies.
As the app’s prologue says: “You are a legend in your own loungeroom and we salute you with a slice of Vegemite toast.”
This easy-to-use free app is available for both iPhone and Android from the App Store or Google Play so there’s no excuse to miss out on any of the Olympics action.
Make sure you send our Olympians and Paralympians a HeroMessage® too.
